Washington, May 24 : Simon Cowell has left his American Idol fans bamboozled after revealing that he doesn't plan to go on with the show.
Cowell shot to fame when he started his stint as the acerbic judge on the talent hunt show.
However, the 47-year-old insists that he now wants to do something new.
"I'll have done 10 series and your time's up. It's time then to do something new," Contactmusic quoted Cowell, as telling U.S. news show Extra.
The music mogul is best known as a judge on the television programs Pop Idol, The X Factor and American Idol.
Cowell feels that new faces should join the show now.
"I think it's time to bring in new people... Ten years is a long time," he said.
He also suggested the name of 'The Apprentice' executive producer and host Donald Trump to replace him on the show.
