Review: AMERICAN IDOL - SEASON SIX - 'The Final Two Perform'

Well here we are at another end to the master karaoke competition known as AMERICAN IDOL. How many thought after how terrible the men began the season that one would have lasted past Melinda Doolittle (who should have performed Tuesday but was robbed by the American public), past LaKisha and past Sanjaya Malakar – OK, the last one was a joke.

So Blake Lewis verses Jordin Sparks. Is it really even a competition? Is there any doubt that Jordin is taking it home? If she doesn’t it will be a shock despite how fresh and interesting Blake continues to be. I just don’t see the Jordin contingent (which seems to be huge) letting her down in the end. But stranger things have indeed happened.

First let’s talk about the judges. Probably the biggest question going into the finals other than who would emerge the victor was would Paula show up f***ed up considering she reportedly broke her nose and was going on meds. I’ll say this, after those initial few audition rounds where she was freaking off the hook high on something, she’s shaped up her act and has actually seem sober for all of the live performances. Next we had Simon who actually put away the too-tight t-shirts and wore something that he should be wearing the entire time – business casual. How funny that the lead judge dresses as most of us go to work, something not right there. Finally, the best for last Randy “yo yo yo” Jackson who was doing his best Sgt Pepper with that outfit. Seriously, what the hell was he thinking wearing that? Did he think he was going to a military gala instead of an after party Tuesday night?

One last thing and speaking of outfits, hey songwriters, your one and maybe only chance to get on camera and you wear jeans? Seriously, what happened to dressing up when you are being honored has that gone the way of the dodo? If “Seacrest out” has to dress up in a suit, shouldn’t the rest of these scrubs?

Speaking of that song, boy if that’s the song they chose, I’d really hate to see the other entries. I guess since it is technically a pop contest, it was fitting but wow did that suck ass. And as the judges said, could they have picked a worse song for Blake? Hey, just tank him right from the start and not even give him a fighting chance, way to go producers.

However, it wasn’t just that one song. Even a sound-deaf, no-talent ass-clown like myself can see that Jordin blew Blake away in the finals. She’s definitely got the talent, the look and the pipes to make it big especially with all of the other IDOLs and even losers making it big in one way or the other. That said, I can totally see Blake coming out with his own album and doing very well with his different style and flavor as well what he is doing is pretty popular right now.

Who wins? I’m putting my online poker money on Jordin. But like I said, stranger things have happened.
