when to watch

What: "American Idol" finale

When: 7 p.m. tonight (performance round), 7 p.m. Wednesday

Channel: Fox 9, KMSP-TV

Fox 9's "Idol" itinerary: Locally, Fox 9, KMSP-TV, will be airing live "American Idol" reports from Hollywood courtesy of reporter and "Idol" vet Rob Olson during its 9 and 10 p.m. newscasts Tuesday through Thursday. There'll also be daily "AI" coverage on "Fox 9 Morning News" including an interview with the newly crowned "Idol" on Thursday.

KDWB, 101.3 FM "Idol" coverage: The crew from KDWB's "Dave Ryan in the Morning Show" (5-9 a.m.) has been out in Los Angeles interviewing current and past "Idol" contenders as part of their "AI" coverage. Doing the show live from Hollywood through Thursday means a 2 a.m. wake-up call for the gang, but, according to Ryan, it's all worth it.

"We'll be in the audience for the show on Wednesday," said Ryan on the phone from the Kodak Theater on Monday. "That's probably going to be the best part for me. It's something I'll remember for a long time."

Tuesday's show will feature interviews with a handful of Season 6 contestants including Sanjaya Malakar, Chris Sligh and Phil Stacey. On Wednesday, Ryan talks to Blake Lewis and Jordin Sparks.
