Local 'Idol' fans celebrate Jordin's win

A huge cheer went up from the crowd gathered at Celebration Cinema South when Jordin Sparks was crowned the sixth "American Idol."

About 150 "Idol" maniacs watched the two-hour finale on a movie screen as part of the Hot FM Idol Finale Party, sponsored by 103.5, Hot-FM. "We hope people feel like watching this on the big screen is a little more like being there," said Marcus Bradman, director of events and promotions at the radio station.

Like millions of other TV watchers around the nation, partygoers waited through two hours of stellar entertainment to find out who 74 million voters had selected as this year's winner. Both Sparks and Blake Lewis performed a few times on the broadcast, most notably in duets. The 17-year-old victor from Glendale, Ariz., sang beautifully with 2003 winner Ruben Studdard on "You're All I Need to Get By," while Lewis displayed those famous beat-boxing skills in a double act with rapper Doug. E. Fresh.
