CHARLOTTE, NC—The father of former “American Idol” contestant Kellie Pickler is in a pickle after being arrested on five larceny charges Friday in Albernarle, NC.
Clyde “Bo” Pickler, released from prison last year after serving a three year sentence in Florida for stabbing his neighbor, is now accused of stealing abandoned cars from private property and cashing them in at salvage yards for scrap metal.
Pickler has been charged with three counts of felonious larceny of a motor vehicle, one count of obtaining property by false pretense and one count of misdemeanor larceny. He is being held in lieu of $26,000 bond, due back in court on July 9.
He had been arrested in February for allegedly assaulting his wife. He pleaded guilty to assault and communicating threats. A 90-day jail sentence was suspended and he was placed on one year of probation.
Kellie Pickler, a Season 5 Idol contestant, was abandoned by her mother as a child. She publicly reconciled with her father last year. She’s moved to Nashville, Tenn., has released an album and was nominated for a new female vocalist award at the Academy of Country Music Awards earlier this month. 5-22-07
