American Idol Power Rankings

Welcome to the last power rankings for the sixth season of American Idol. I will try to rank with great vigor!

6. Paula Abdul
Wow. What is left to say? She's completely incoherent right now. She mentioned CBS (the studio, but still) on the biggest FOX show of the year. She can't be coming back to the show can she? She tripped over a poodle? C'mon man, I've heard that one, it's the last line of defense for someone who probably needs some help. I don't know whether to be sad or horrified.

5. Jordin's version of "Fighter"
I love Christina Aguilera, and I think she can really sing. But after seeing Jordin stumble through "Fighter" I have a new respect. The song ate her up, it was too quick for her to stick any of the notes. The lesson? You've got a better chance at imitating Whitney Houston than Christina. That's quite a development.

4. Blake's version of "This is My Now"
Super yikes. This was a brutal song for him. They should have just had him sing the Mr. Rogers theme because it came off less cool than even that. I feel really bad for him, Jordin suckered him into the weaker first position and then slam dunked him after his final performance.

3. Seattle
To recap: both finale singers came out of the Seattle auditions, and the winning song did too. I mentioned why Seattle was still a winner, even without Idol, months ago. But now it seems as though I was right on both fronts. Seriously, whenever you guys want to send those flowers the Emerald City is ready to forgive.

2. Blake
After the first song he was definitely ahead. But it slipped away because the one thing Blake could never pull off is sap. And that's what the final song was for him. I guess in retrospect they shouldn't have called the song writing contest "Write a song for Jordin."

1. Jordin
Despite the crazy strange look that Melinda Doolittle gave her during "This is My Now" the song was actually really good under her direction. She's a power singer, and it's a power singer song. She's wrapped up this Idol thing even though her performance the past month wasn't as strong as the month prior. I'd still call her my favorite Idol ever, and when she finally gets out of her Idol contract at the age of 35 I think we'll see some great things from her.

Honorable mention and random thoughts:
It's been a fun season, credit due to the producers. But can the formula stay fresh for a seventh season? Does anyone think they can discover another Jordin? Will this band competition work out? The answers are: hopefully, no, and probably not. But we'll all be watching.
